Planning a qualitative study
Each year in my introductory qualitative methods course, I have my doctoral students plan a qualitative study. For students who have never done such a thing (as is the case for most of them), it’s quite the undertaking. To help them think through each component, and ultimately design a strong study, I give them a graphic organizer straight from my days as a high school English teacher (but adapted, of course, for my PhD students). I have found that students are grateful for this resource as we move through the course and as they build their studies.
Anyway, here’s the qualitative research project planner. I hope it’s useful!
